Seeking an experienced Technical Director/Road Manager for the October - November - December season in the Pacific Northwest and California including performing arts center and school shows. Short term/contract work with the possibility of joining longer national and/or international tours.

 

About the Role: 

 

The Technical Director/Road Manager is responsible for myriad tasks in producing Ha Ha Da Vinci, including but not limited to calling the show, running sound, and changing the set between acts, loading and unloading the tour vehicle, assembling and disassembling the set, working with local crews, and driving to and from shows. Productions are held in traditional spaces like performing arts centers and theaters, as well as schools, community halls, and libraries.

Responsibilities: 

 

• Running sound for rehearsals and performances (sound is run through QLab)

• Assembling the set

• Disassembling the set

• Loading the tour vehicle

• Unloading the tour vehicle

• Calling the show

• Coordinating with performer and FOH staff before, during, and after shows

• Working alongside local technical directors, staff, and crews 

• Setting up sound and speakers for community shows (schools and libraries)

• Changing the set between acts

• Driving to and from productions and rehearsals

• Running errands (hardware store, grocery run, picking up printing, etc.)

• Some heavy lifting

• Prompt and clear communication with performer, technical directors, staff, crews, and with staff at non-traditional venues

 

Helpful Skills to Bring to the Job (happy to train the right person): ​

 

• Prior experience with QLab

• Prior experience working in theater

• Ability and willingness to lift and carry moderate weights

• Valid Driver’s License

• Basic ability to use hand and power tools (hammer, drill, etc.)

• A can-do attitude and ability to maintain professionalism in constantly changing, fast-paced environments

• Ability to balance and juggle multiple tasks 

• Ability to follow through with commitments 

• Candidate can manage their work schedule and follow-through with commitments - double bookings, lateness, or no-shows will not be accommodated

 

Essential Dates: 

 

20-25 Hrs. of rehearsal the week of October 12th: Port Townsend

 

Show: Wednesday, October 28th: Port Townsend 

 

Show: Saturday, November 7th (with travel days on Friday, November 6th + Sunday, November 8th) Orcas Island

Show: Saturday, December 19th (with travel days on Friday, December 18th + the afternoon/evening of the 19th)

 

Compensation: 

 

$25 - $40 per hour for rehearsals

Flat rate for show days 

Housing during tours

Per diem for food during tours
